Support Groups
"Kids Who Kare" Support Group
Children who have suffered a loss are often called "the silent
grievers." Traumatized by their own loss and by what their
loss does to their family, they are unable to ask for help themselves.
Failing to address the problems that result from the death of a
loved one can result in poor performance at school, depression,
drug or alcohol abuse, theft, or violence.
The Kids Who Kare program is for children ages 5
12 and their parents or guardians. The meetings offer a variety
of ways to assist children in learning how to express and cope with
their feelings, and how to understand their grief. It also gives
them an opportunity to meet other children who have experienced
a similar loss. Trained facilitators guide the children through
art, music, role-playing, games and other helpful and therapeutic
activities.
We also offer parents or guardians who bring children to the Kids
Who Kare meetings the opportunity to meet and talk with other
adults who are coping with loss. These meetings take place while
the children are meeting separately. Special family nights and outings
provide another opportunity to bring all the family together again
to renew and heal.
Meeting time and location
2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 6:30 8:00 pm at the Christi
